Meet me at Big Woof, Dogfest and Chelsea Dog Day
London and Hertfordshire dog-friendly events coming up!
Dogfest season is almost over, with the final event taking place at the magnificent Knebworth House in Hertfordshire on the 21 and 22 September. But beyond Dogfest, there are a few more places where our paths could cross if you’re London based. Here’s what you need to know:
THIS WEEKEND! The Big Woof, King’s Cross
I have long loved the vibe at Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross, but this weekend it’s going to get even better as The Big Woof — a major dog-friendly event — takes place. There are fun dog shows, plenty of dog-friendly dining destinations (my favourites are Lina Stores and Morty & Bob’s), and talks at the Samsung store, including one by me on day trips from London!
Join the fun on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September (this weekend!) and don’t miss stopping by my little caravan to say hi and get a signed book. If you’ve already got a copy, bring your own and I’ll deface there and then 😉
21-22 September: Dogfest Knebworth House
North London and Hertfordshire dogs will want to grab last-minute tickets to this — the final Dogfest of 2024! I’ll be playing my usual dog-friendly travel quiz game that always ends with prizes, and famous faces like Chloe Fuller and the Super Spaniels, Lucy Heath a la BGT fame and local TV behaviourist Adem Fehmi will be on the roster, too. Come and buy one of my books and you’ll get a FREE goody back from my friends at Paws & Stay, too.
5 October: Chelsea Dog Day
My final event of 2024 is a dog market day in Duke of York Square in Chelsea, London. I’ll be selling and signing books from a stall in the square alongside myriad other dog-clobber businesses, and there are dog-friendly guides to Chelsea’s 75 dog-loving venues available. Pets As Therapy will also be there, so chat to their experts about helping your pet help others.
Next year…
I am on the cusp of signing two new book deals for further dog-friendly travel guides on two UK destinations, so 2025 will be taken up with plenty of travel and more desk-based panic. However, here’s your advanced notice that I’ll be attending the brilliant All About Dogs show in Newbury Showground on the Easter weekend in April 2025! My caravan will be in attendance, and I’ll be running a dog-friendly travel quiz with prizes to be won!
Just back from…
We have just returned from the last All About Dogs show in Norfolk, where thousands of good dogs had a grand day out while Arty stayed home our wonderful accommodation by East Ruston Cottages. I’ll write more about them another time (my review in The Sun is coming soon), but in the meantime, check out their website and listings — there are reactive dog-friendly places, houses with hot tubs, cottages with six-foot fencing for your jumpers, and houses with spectacular sea views.
